I covered a bit of this response in a previous article but I probably need to elaborate. The pricing difference in racquets is determined by the composition of a racquet. Generally, racquets below $220 have an alloy component in them and they are not a full graphite frame. Alloy frames create more vibration on contact and have less stability and less control than a full graphite frame. That's not to say you shouldn't buy one. If you are just starting out and are an absolute beginner and not sure if you will stick with tennis, this is a good cost effective option. 

If you are planning on playing a lot of tennis and are hitting against players who hit the ball harder and you are generating top spin or want to hit the ball harder yourself, nothing but a full graphite frame will do it for you. You must use a stable, solid and controllable racquet to win points - or to even be competitive in points. 

To answer the question quite simply, you need the lowest priced full graphite frame with a balance of power and control.
